For as long as computer games have existed, simulation games are probably considered to be the oldest type, but it still remains one of the best genres. The opportunity to build new worlds really sounds appealing to anyone who plays video games. Nintendo Wii offers a very wide variety of this genre, and in this article we have compiled the most popular and best Wii simulation games. Read on and start creating your own new worlds.

Be In A Rock Band

If you like music, you will love Rock Band 2. I wasn’t expecting much – and was very surprised how great this game is! You can have a band with you and your family and friends being members. Play a guitar, beat a drum or sing – the choice is yours. You get to see yourself on stage and really have a blast. A great group game that requires team effort and gives tons of fun!

Create a World

One of the best Wii simulation games is MySims Kingdom. In this game, you get to travel and live in a land full of magic wherein you need to help a King named Roland solve his problems. You need to do this by building different structures such as windmills, bridges, fences, and water pumps. You will be presented with a number of challenges that will get you to fix up the island that is falling apart. As the game progresses, challenges become more difficult. Throughout the game, you will get help from other characters such as Chef Gino, Princess Butter, and Gino.

Create a Community

Another favorite Wii simulation game is Animal Crossing: City Folk. In this game, you get to create your own community. You get to choose everything, from your activities to your characters’ wardrobe and furnishings. You can even talk to animals. This game allows up to four players wherein you can use your own Mii.

Cool Cooking

Another of the best Wii simulation games is Cooking Mama: Cook Off. You can play in any of 3 modes: by yourself, against the computer or with a friend. This game has a nice friendly competition aspect that is fun. Players get to perform kitchen actions such as chopping, dicing, slicing, rolling, stirring, and grating through a wide range of recipes.

Be a Vet

Another top Wii simulation game is Zoo Hospital. In this game, you are the veterinarian to a number of animals, specifically 48 different species. You play a graduate from Veterinary College. As soon as you graduated, your Aunt Lucy seeks your help for an emergency. Through helping her, you need to build a zoo wherein you can treat all the different animals that need your help. You can play the game by using your Wii remote to zap the different viruses with a laser. Nunchuks are also very helpful especially when you need to cure toothaches and need to extract a tooth. This game can be played with other players.

Ride Horses

My Horse and Me
is a Wii simulation game for those who want to be future equestrians. The game allows you to participate in riding ring competitions all over the world. You get to compete in stages starting from stables to world-class tournaments. You get to train with the best horse-riding instructors, and choose from different horse characters.

These Wii simulation games will surely provide you with a great opportunity to portray different characters and build your own worlds. From creating cities from scratch to being a certified veterinarian or professional veterinarian, you are the master of your own world.

Lose Weight — Playing Wii

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Now you have more ways than ever to get exercise and lose weight while playing games. Originally, my favorite way was to play Dance Dance Revolution. This is great fun and exercise. We have had many people over to try it – and they all keep asking when they can come over and play it again! Now that is my kind of exercise!

The next level of fun and exercise is the Wii Fit. This has 4 different modes and many many games! Whether you want to increase your balance, build strength, lose weight or increase flexibility there are many games to play. We love to play games to get (and keep!) fit. So get off your sofa and play wii for health and fun!

See What Zelda Twilight Princess is All About on the Wii

In the old days, I played Zelda on a Super NES. It was fantastic. I didn’t think it could get any better back then. It was really fun! Well, the Wii moved it up several notches. Instead of playing as far behind the scenes, you feel more part of the game. I can’t describe it — so watch the video of how fun Zelda on the Wii can be.

Wii fit (release 05.19.2008)

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Sedentary is just one adjective that comes to mind when describing the lifestyle of video gamers. You are often sitting down when you play most of the video games available in the market today. This has slightly changed with the release of the Nintendo Wii in 2006. Instead of just sitting down and pressing buttons, you are moving the Wii Remote during gameplay. These movements mimic actual game actions, such as hitting the ball with a racquet (simulated by the Wii Remote) during a tennis game.

However, a study published in the British Medical Journal noted the need for exercise among Wii players. Liverpool John Moores University professor Gareth Stratton and his colleagues observed 13-15 year old boys and girls and compared their energy expenditure while playing the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360. They noted a 2% increase in energy expenditure among Wii players but they cautioned against using Wii games as substitutes for exercise or sports. However, they noted the console’s contribution in weight management and its promotion of physical activity. The results of this study might be revised after the May 19, 2008 U.S. release of the Wii Fit (April 25, 2008 in Europe).

Wii Fit is the newest Wii-exclusive video game developed by Nintendo. Initially known as the Wii Health Pack, Wii Fit was previewed at the 2007 E3 Media and Business Summit press conference in the U.S. Video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Reginald Fils-Aime, and other participants demonstrated the game during the said event.

Miyamoto is popular for developing games based on his hobbies. This was observed in the Pikmin and Nintendogs games. Wii Fit is not different as the idea for the game originated from Miyamoto’s desire to keep himself fit. He revealed that he gained weight after he graduated from college and after he got married. He later suffered from back pains, which his doctor attributed to his weight gain. Miyamoto decided to take up swimming. After swimming regularly, he noted a considerable drop in his weight. He also observed an increase in his overall fitness level. Later, he became interested in a special weight monitoring diet and decided to record his weight on a graph.

Like the other games in the Wii Series, Wii Fit also involves Miis. These are digital avatars that you can create using the Mii Channel. Gameplay also requires a Wii Balance Board accessory, which comes with your purchase of the game. The board measures your weight, center of gravity, and calculates your body mass index.

The game offers 40 activities that incorporate yoga poses, push ups, step aerobics, hula hooping, ski jumping, jogging, and goalie defense. Professional trainer Kaoru Matsui assessed the effectiveness of the training routines.

Wii Fit also allows interaction with other players. You can compare your fitness level with other players through the Wii Fit channel. In addition, you can keep track of your progress, which the game records through the Wii Fitness Age.

Developers are reportedly eyeing the integration of WiiConnect24 functionality in the game. This would allow you to contact your doctor for help or your fitness expert for training exercises assistance.

With Wii Fit, you can now literally get on your feet while enjoying some of your favorite sports and physical activities. Forget sedentary. Active is now an apt description for gamers.

If you happen to have a Japanese Wii Console, you can play Wii Fit For Japanese Console now!
